Come celebrate Bergen CASA's 20th Anniversary at Casino Night at Seasons on March 22, 2023, from 6:30 to 10:30pm. Lorraine Joewono will be honored for being one of our visionary founding members. Additionally, we are celebrating our longest serving Advocate Chip Giamo's 16 years of service. Chip has helped numerous children to find permanent homes and then stayed in touch afterward to continue to support them as adults!
The event is also to help Bergen CASA raise critical, unrestricted funds to support our Advocacy for all of Bergen County's foster children. Whether these children need a warm coat, visits with their siblings, or extra support in school, Bergen CASA's Advocates ensure their needs are met. Our Advocates safeguard that their appointed foster children are getting the medical, educational, and psychological services needed to begin to heal from the trauma they have experienced. At the same time, we help find them safe, permanent homes as quickly as possible.
Meet our 20th Anniversary Honorees
LORRAINE JOEWONO, Founder
Lorraine Joewono was the President of the Women's Club of Carlstadt (from 1998 to 2000) when she was invited by NJ CASA to participate in a steering committee which subsequently founded Bergen County CASA. Lorraine has a distinguished philanthropic career, including: Councilwoman for Carlstadt, Woman's Club 8th District President and former 8th District Performing Arts Chairman. In 1994 Lorraine was voted Bergen County's Volunteer of the Year, in 2004 she received a Women in Action award, in 2013 the Women's History Month Humanitarian Award and in 2022 Lorraine was inducted into the Democratic Committee of Bergen County Hall of Fame.

CHIP GIAMO, Advocate
Chip Giamo is our longest-serving Advocate, having been appointed to 7 children over 16 years. He is a resident of Bergen County, a former finance/treasury executive at M&M Mars Inc, and a very proud grandfather of 5 grandchildren. He remains one of our most impactful Advocates, exemplified by the fact that Judge Mizdol always included him in chambers for conferences. Chip is the veteran advocate we invite to trainings so new Advocates can benefit from his experience. He has left an indelible impact on all those privileged to work alongside him.
